  • Adventures in Baking

Last night I decided to make some treats for the guys that plow my driveway. I made these Favorite_Chocolate_Caramel_Nut_Barsand they are DELICIOUS but there were a few troubles as anyone who has seen me in action in the kitchen would know.

Trouble #1 Recipe calls for 15oz bag of carmels. I just had some bulk carmels so I had no clue how many I was using or were supposed to be used.

Trouble #2 Recipe says mix 1/3 cup of milk with carmels. Grab gallon of milk out of fridge and pour. WAIT! It says evaporated milk. Quickly pour off regular milk and open can of evaporated milk.

Trouble #2.5 Can't figure out why carmels aren't melting...wait...I turned the wrong burner on.

Trouble #3 Recipe says mix rest of milk with cake mix. Um...that is going to be really soupy. Oh wait. Use a 5oz can of milk. Mine was 12 oz. So how many ounces would be left after you use 1/3 cup out of a 5oz can. Good question. I just guessed.

But, they turned out super yummy! and I gave a plate to the guys who plow and am bringing some over to mom and dads tonight.
